Health and Community Care |
How is this project different from the general CAB services?
Citizens Advice is available to everyone, but there are some people in our community, who find it difficult to use the service because of serious ill health and/or disability, restricted mobility, being in care or housebound. The project is therefore designed especially for these people, their families and carers.
What sort of things can the advisers help with?
The main area of work is supporting and helping people to access the care, resources, facilities and equipment etc. they need to live independently in the community or suitable residential setting.
The advisers can however support people with more general issues such as housing, finance, consumer concerns, relationship matters.
It can be difficult to get help from Citizens Advice, as they are so busy, will this project be any different?
The project has its own dedicated low cost telephone service; email address and office back up. This makes it much easier for people who need help from the project to get support as quickly as possible.
Do people have to get to the offices to be seen?
NO! The project has been set up so that advisers can go out into the community and visit people either at home, in care settings or other suitable locations. If someone still wishes to be seen in the Citizens Advice offices this is possible too.
If I contacted the service, who would help me with my situation?
The project is staffed by a dedicated team of volunteer advisers. They are specially trained to work with the public, offering support, information, advice and advocacy.
